Folks came to hear some of the best country, gospel and bluegrass music in the USA, Canada and New Zealand. There was competition Monday through Saturday from 8:30 am until 11:30 pm each day and all of this was free to the general public at the Country Tonite Theatre.
NACMAI 2006 Hall of Fame was held on Thursday, March 9, 2006, at 7:30 pm at the Country Tonite Theater in Pigeon Forge, TN. There was a special show with performances by Inductee Rhonda Vincent and The Rage. This was an event that you did not want to miss. Rhonda Vincent, known as "The Mandolin Mama" has received many awards in Bluegrass including IBMA 2003 Female Vocalist of the Year and SPBGMA 2004 Entertainer of the Year. Rhonda said; "I see Bluegrass as the 'sister music' of country music." Some of her hits include: "Muleskinner Blues," "If Heartaches Had Wings," "I'm Not Over You," and "You Can't Take It With You When You Go." Due to illness, Gene Watson was not able to attend as announced. "Whispering" Bill Anderson and his band were able to step in and close the show with a great performance that was enjoyed by all.
The NACMAI 2006 Country Legend Award was presented to Marty Robbins, with Ronny Robbins accepting for his father and Skeeter Davis, with Carolyn Sue (Doozer) Pennick accepting for her sister. The 2006 Talent Co-Ordinator of the Year was presented to Tandy Rice, President and CEO of Top Billing International. The NACMAI Hall of Fame was produced and hosted by Jeanne Pruett.
The NACMAI Hall of Fame Gospel and Songwriters Induction and Awards Show was Sunday, March 12, 2006, at 1:00 pm at the Country Tonite Theatre. This show include Hall of Fame presentations to Naomi Sego in Gospel Music. Naomi is a member of the Southern Gospel Music Singers Hall of Fame, has been named "The First Lady of Gospel Music" by the Grand Ole Gospel Reunion and recipient of the JD Sumer Living Legend Award. Songwriters inducted were Thomas Barnes, BMI Award Winning writer of "Indian Outlaw," Recorded by Tim McGraw; "Man To Man," recorded by Hank Williams Jr. and Monty Holmes, BMI Award Winning writer of "Never Again, Again," recorded by Lee Ann Womack, "When Did You Stop Loving Me," "I Know She Still Loves Me," recorded by George Strait. There was a performance by Country Tonite and NACMAI affiliated state members.
For our Youth, some schools give credit for attending the seminars. Please check with your school for this possibility.
