ROBINSON'S in TEXAS

ZORASTER ROBINSON was born April, 17, 1808 in Miledgeville, Baldwin county, Georgia.  His parents were Henry and Susan Robinson.  By most printed records, he was married in 1829 to Martha Winn (although one record indicates he married Martha Child.   Perhaps Martha Child was a widow or divorcee and her maiden name was Winn.)* 
          In 1834 Zoraster left Georgia and went to Texas to look over opportunities there.  He returned to Georgia and gathered the family and moved them to rugged and exciting adventures in the newly settled Texas territory.  His name appears on early Texas land grant records.  He lived most of his adult life in LEON County, Texas.  He served in the Texas army in 1836 and the Confederate army during the Civil War.  He was the first  

         After the death of Martha in 1860, Zoraster married Matilda Collins Deatley, a widow with seven children.
          The children of Zoraster and Martha Robinson were:

          1). Henry Samuel Robinson bn. in 1829 in Georgia. He married Mary Jane Beggs
          2). Thomas M. Robinson bn. in 1836 in Texas married Elizabeth B. ?
          3). Sarah (Sallie) A. Robinson bn. 1838 in Texas married Wm. S. Bosley
          4). Abraham M. Robinson bn. 1839 in Texas married Jennettia Moore 1st then Bettie Carson 2nd
          5). Amanda Jane Robinson bn. 1842 in Texas married J. E. Stringer, Jr.
          6). Nancy Matilda Robinson bn. 1844 in Texas married James Uford Bosley, bro. of Wm. S. Bosley
          7). Emma Mae Robinson bn. 1846 married Thomas Collins
         8). E. Todd Robinson bn. 1850 in Texas 
          9). Elisha James Robinson bn. 1852 in Texas married 1). Ida Susan Ellis 1st, ? Scott 2nd and Arimatha Knight 3rd

          The only child born to Zoraster Robinson and Matilda Collins Deatley was
          1). Samuel Whaley Robinson bn. 1861 in Texas married Mary A. Logan

           Zoraster Robinson.  a volunteer in 1836 with the Texas army during the fight for independance was with the rear guard numbering about 1,200 men at the town of Harrisburg while General Sam Houston took 1,000 men about 13 miles east to win Texas Independance at The Battle of San Jacinto.
