I finally put together a CD of selected songs from past projects. (Whew!) Since good sound quality stuff is hard to come by, I've settled for the LP (vinyl, whatsat?) The Regals recorded in September of 1977 that I played lead guitar on using my '73 Fender Tele, Fender SuperReverb, Thomas wah-wah pedal and Bad Stone distortion pedal; the cassette recording of The Gordon Brown Revue from January 1979, I believe, that I played electric bass, my equipment I used on The Regals, did background vocals and extra percussion; and then I used three solo selections recorded from about 1981-1997.

The first one recorded was Shel Silverstein's "Put another log on the fire" was captured on my home cassette, turntable, am-fm radio unit and another inexpensive cassette recorder; utilizing a copy of some drumtraks a friend gave me back about 1981 on cassette. It has that old-time sound and sounds like it was recorded in a bar but wasn't.  I did all the instruments and singing except the drumtraks. What do you think about using the kazoo instead of a sax?

The second one recorded chronologically is my version of The Beatles "Back in the U.S.S.R.". I'm doing all the instruments and singing again with the exception of the drums which is from my little casio midi keyboard.

The third (and last for now), is "Oriental Boogie". The little casio keyboard supplied the drums, again, along with the hammond organ; or I may have used my full size 66 keys Casio as the master and the little keyboard as the slave. Jay Pendleton, whom I've known since high school days at Durrett in Louisville, Kentucky, was by during the evenings I was recording this. I can do only sooo much moving keyboard stuff (usually strings and other long parts), so I asked Jay if he would let me punch him into the second chorus break so I would have one with guitar and one with organ; he did a great job, of course since keys have been his life as much as guitars have been mine! (Thank you, Jay P.!)

Recorded originally on my Marantz 4 track - my version of the Lennon/McCartney (Beatles) tune "Back in the USSR". Yes, that's me doing all of the vocals.

For some reason, my wife has me play  "Put Another Log on the Fire" for my dad and the song has been nicknamed around my house as the male-chauvinist pig song.

WAAAAAY back around 1970 - 1972, my dad encouraged me to come up with something very original instead of just copying other's songs and styles. Thus "Oriental Boogie" came into being. There is also a full version floating in another website.

It has been awhile, but I have been asked to substitute for a music minister from time to time.
One time, couple of years back, Ralph Bland played guitar while I played bass and led the singing. This small movie clip is congregational singing of "Victory in Jesus". Both the church pianist and organist were out of town on the SAME Sunday, along with Ken Bryan, our music minister.

One Sunday evening, Dusti, my daughter sang "Day by Day" from the 70's Schwartz musical "Godspel" (with help from her dear ol' dad. The link is to a slideshow of her singing.
