"O sing unto the Lord a new song; for
he hath done marvellous things:
his right hand, and his holy arm, hath gotten him the victory.
The Lord
hath made known his salvation: " ________ PSALMS 98:1-2
Most singing today is
done "by letter" (open your mouth and lett'er fly) or
else by singing songs from memory. We suggest that every person
should determine the part (soprano; alto; tenor; bass) that he/she
can
sing and set forth to learn to read the music (sightsinging). [more
to come]
The NOTESING Gospel Music Library is in
search of any shape note
convention song books that may need a home, so many are destroyed
or discarded regularly. One gentleman stated he had just recently
plowed under a couple of cotton baskets full ..... another had
dumped
them in the hog pen since no one wanted them.. The target search
currently is for "Golden Harp" (1927) and "Glory
Dawn" (1937),
both were published by STAMPS-BAXTER Music Co.
