Team Member Information Committee Dec. 8, 1999 P.O. Box 113 Vance, Al. 35490
To whom it may concern,
I am writing this letter in regard to your newsletters that have been mailed to my home. As you may or may not know, I am a German employee of MBAG. I have been working in Tuscaloosa since April, 1996 as a trainer in body repair. Your anti-union activities do not affect my contract in any way.I have been a member of the German union, IG Metall since my hire date of Sept. 29, 1975. I represented the union for may years in the Sindelfingen factory. The IG Metall has provided me with many benefits in my career at Mercedes. Allow me to list a few: - 6 weeks paid vacation yearly - full pay for sick days - time and 1/2 for vacation days as vacation bonus - 35 hr. work week, but paid for 40 hrs. - Mercedes matches my monthly contributions to health retirement, and unemployment insurance. - job security, especially for veteran workers over 54 yrs. old - regular pay raises - overtime limits, forcing new hires - by request, comp time
My telephone number is un-listed, which means you acquired my mailing address from company files. Management has stated that they will remain neutral in all union and anti-union matters. I do not appreciate MBUSI providing anyone access to my mailing address. I have not been approached or "harrassed" by union organizers at work or at home. To print such lies, as union co-workers sabotaging our product, upsets me deeply as I have been a union member for 25 years. I request that you remove me from your mailing list immediately. I do not want to be associated with your organization. Should I continue to be harrassed with your newsletters, I will respond with legal action.
Sincerely, David Livengood
