My Thoughts on...
Having More Children
As you know, I have two wonderful children that live in Indiana. Chris is 19, a sophomore at Indiana University, and Eric is 18, a HS senior. They are both very active in their school and their church. I make every effort to see them as much as I possibly can, which can be trying at times to coordinate our schedules. The distance between us has made it difficult to be the father that I always wanted to be and be involved in their lives the way my Dad was involved in mine.
But, we're here to discuss having more kids. I have thought a lot about this and have reasons why I would and reasons why I would not like to start another family. Obviously, to have more children at my age would put me into my 60's by the time they graduate from college. This at a time when I would like to be enjoying life and thinking about retirement.
On the other hand, I know so much more about what it means to be a good parent and am a better financial situation than I was the first time around.
So, what does this mean? If I love someone enough to marry her, then I love her enough to have children with her if that is what we both decide we want to do. The biological clock is ticking though and I'm leaning towards NOT wanting to begin again. I do believe it is important for one of the parents to stay home with the children until they begin grade school.
