Mr. Phillips was a native of Columbus, Ohio and a member of the Memorial Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Mary E. Phillips; daughters, Mrs. Elsie Wonat, Mrs. Ethel Shepard, of Columbus, Mrs. Effie Wright, of Ft. Pierce, Fla., Mrs. June Nance, of London, Ohio, Mrs. Ann Teets, of Manchestor, Conn.; 2 sons Mr. Howard Phillips and Mr. Alvin F. Phillips Jr., of Columbus; 25 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; 2 brothers, Raymond and Edward Phillips; 1 sister Mrs. Lily Schneider of Columbus. Friends may call at the Shroyer Funeral Home, 1278 W. Broad, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday where service will be held 1 p.m. Staurday. Interment Union Cemetery. Rev. Donald Winters officiating.
