Obituary - Ironton Register

Thursday May 2, 1907

The funeral of Mr. Jordan Nance, an aged resident of Scott Town who died March 18th, will be preached at Perkins Ridge church at 10:30 o'clock May 12th. The services will be conducted by G.L. Wickline of Polkadotte and H.H. Sanders of Crown City. Mr. Nance was born February 28, 1821, and was the father of 15 children. Those who survive him are, David and Sadoc of Linville, Mrs. Eliza Falkner Thomas of West Virginia, Ely, Sherman and Jasper of Huntington, Isaac of Scott Town. Mr. Nance joined the Baptist church in 1891 and was a devoted Christian until his death. He was born and reared in Lawrence county, and was a kind friend to all. He will be missed by his many friends. The funeral was postponed on account of high water.
