Damion Kidd: dobro
I started playing guitar with my grandfather and mother around the age of 6. I played for about 2 years and just lost interest. Then around the age of 14 I met this guy at church named Joe Richards. I played some rhythm guitar with him. He was a pretty good dobro player, but was a a better guitar player and singer. One night he left his dobro at my house. I stayed up all night trying to play it. It just seemed to come natural to me. I learned to play 2 songs that first night. After about 5 months,I joined a band called the Madison County Ramblers. I played with them for about 2 years. Then I joined a band called Hurricane Creek, we traveled all over and played some of the best festivals in the country. We won the Fans Choice Contest in Nashville in 1992. We then broke up in 1994 and I quit playing for about 3 years. I went to a festival in Holly Pond AL. in September of 1998. I met a couple of guys, Kevin Molt and Jerry Hicks. We jammed all day and night. We started playing quite a bit along with Ken Whitt, who I have known for over 10 years. We all quickly became good friends and enjoy playing music together, and now you have the Strings of Bluegrass.
