I was born in Cooperstown, New York in 1947. My
name then was Richard Patrick, and was until I was eight years
old. At two years old, my mother moved to Troy, New York. My
mother and stepfather got married in 1950. My name was still Richard
Patrick until 1955. That's the year my life changed.
My years up to eight years were as normal as I can remember until the
abduction in September 1955. Life seemed to have changed for me.
Paranormal activity in my life was almost like an every day occurrence.
I was told by my second grade teacher in 1991 that I did good in
school, kindergarten through second grade. All my years of school after
that were bad. Also in that year, in December of 1955, adoption papers made it legal to
use my stepfathers name. As you read the article below by Antonio
Huneeus, you will hear about some of my school days so I will not
repeat them here.
When I finally got out of school in 1968, I thought life may change for
me. Fat chance.
I got married the first time in 1969, that marriage lasted for 23
years. I got married again in 1994. It only lasted for 11 months. After
that I wanted to stay single. I was trying to get my life back in
order. I had lived in an apartment for a year, but then depression set
in. I could not handle things for a while and walked out. I stayed with
some friends for a couple months. In September of 1998, I lost all of
my belongings. In December of 1998, I was feeling better and went
back to the area. I was still moving around here and there.
I was just getting into IBM computer systems, as before I was a
dedicated Commodore user. I was also, for that last four years, trying
to write and finish the book about what happened when I was eight years
old. I started writing it in 1989. It is called WHAT AFFECTS YOUR LIFE?
It is not done yet. My constant moving about and all my problems just
did not allow it. I have just recently started to work on it again.
During the years of 1989 and 1992 I was very busy with all the
attention I was getting about the UFO experience. When newspapers did
articles about me and they would contact others to find out more about
the subject, or about myself. One paper went as far as to talk with a
psychologist at the University of Kentucky. Dr. Robert Baker, he said,
"People who make such claims are what psychologists once called "simple
schizophrenics. They're not very bright, & they have to have some
explanation for their inadequacies." In another paper, he told them
something to the affect that in his opinion, I was abused as I child.
He did not know me nor did he know my family back then, yet, he made
this sound like fact. I grew up in a well mannered household and abuse
was not part of our life. If he cared enough to contact me, he would
have known that I had two of the best parents a kid could have.

ALIEN
IMPLANT
THE RICHARD PRICE STORY
- THE UFO ABDUCTION WITH THE
"SMOKING GUN
by ANTONIO HUNEEUS
©1990 by A. Huneeus. All Rights Reserved
Until
a few years ago, just the account of a UFO abduction experience was
considered an extraordinary phenomenon. The Betty and Barney Hill case
in New Hampshire, the Charlie Hickson incident in Pascagoula and the
Travis Walton affair in Arizona, for instance, were all huge media
sensations. In those days it was enough to have come it contact with
aliens, taken onboard their craft and being subjected to some kind of
physical examination. These days, however, the public and the media
have become somewhat jaded about abductions with all the recent hoopla
created by the books of Whitley Strieber, Budd Hopkins, Ray Fowler and
others. Although an abduction - if real - will obviously be an
extraordinary and traumatic experience for those who have gone through
it, the public has become so exposed to this kind of story that they
now seem to demand something extra in order to get excited. New York
researcher, artist and author Budd Hopkins introduced a few years ago
the scars exhibited by many abductees, as well as the apparent landing
traces in the Copley Woods case featured in his book "Intruders," while
Strieber and others have talked and produced photos of the brain taken
with magnetic resonance scanners which showed tiny anomalous artifacts.
The chase for the so-called implants - a key
feature of many abduction accounts - has been going on for a long time.
After many false starts and other so far inconclusive cases, this
writer has finally located an abduction with a "smoking gun." That is,
a case where the implant was known to be inside the body of someone who
consciously recalls having experienced a UFO abduction, and where the
implant came out naturally and is currently being analyzed by a bona
fide physicist from a prominent university. The case in question is
that of Richard Price from Troy in upstate New York.
I first met Richard at researcher Pat
Marcattilio's Spring 1989 ET Conference in Trenton, New Jersey, where I
had the occasion to interview him at length about his Abduction and the
subsequent events which led to the investigation of his case and the
eventual retrieval of the implant that came from his body on August 10,
1989. We have kept in regular contact over the telephone since then,
giving me an opportunity to find out further details about his case as
well as getting to know him better and gain his trust - a key aspect in
the interaction between witnesses and ufologists if any given
investigation is going to prosper.
I am satisfied so far that Richard Price
is telling the truth and that his case is indeed extraordinary!
Although Richard is writing his own book and
has appeared on a couple of TV talk shows (Hard Copy and Joan Rivers),
I am pleased at being the first one to lay down the full story in
print. The original incident took place in late September of 1955 in a
wooded area near a cemetery in Troy, New York, when Richard was just
eight years old. I shall not repeat the details of his experience here
since the reader can follow it in Richard's own words as described in
our interview. His account is extraordinarily vivid and truly
fascinating. Some details - such as the interactive "movie" he was
shown inside the UFO - can be found in other abductions, yet
other details like the graphic description of the manner in which the
implant was inserted in his body, are really an eye-opener. There is
much material here for further research in this field.
"A couple of years after the incident happened,"
Richard told me, he mentioned to his
grandmother that, "I had been on a spaceship and she said, 'Don't tell
anybody or they'll think you're crazy.'" As later events would prove,
Richard should have followed her advice. Experiencing an abduction is a
disturbing ordeal in itself, as I have seen by knowing many abductees
through Budd Hopkins' Intruders Foundation (of which I am a member of
its Board of Advisors) and by havingtheastern university who had been
referred to him by cattle mutilation researcher Linda Howe, and
arrangements were made for Richard to come to the physicist's
laboratory to start the process of analyzing the object. The professor
proceeded to take "constantly pictures of it all day with a photo
microscope." Since he need a piece of it to conduct further laboratory
analysis, they finally decided to cut it in two. "He took a razor
blade," explained Richard, "and underneath the microscope he took the
piece and cut it off - he's got a piece of it and I got the other piece
so he could examine it."
As stated at the beginning of this article, the
subject of implants are a key element in all abduction stories. The
reason is that more than anything else, they have the potential of
validating abductions as real incidents and not mere psychological
fantasies, as many skeptics maintain. In Europe, for instance, there is
a socio-psychological school among many ufologists, which postulates
that abductions and most Close Encounters of the Third Kind are the
manifestations of a new folklore. In this revisionist view, abductions
are not hoaxes or hallucinations, but neither are they real incidents
involving physical craft and alien occupants. It will take just one
clearly cut incident with a "smoking gun," as Richard Price's case has
the potential to demonstrate, to establish the physicality of the
abduction experience and demolish the pseudo-psychological
interpretations. It all depends, of course, on what exactly is found
about the composition and nature of the retrieved object, the so-called
implant.
A DEFINITION
What are these implants and what is their intended purpose? Two
of the definitions given by 'Webster's New Collegiate Dictionary' for
the word 'implant' are: "to insert in a living site (as for growth,
slow release, or formation of an organic union) [subcutaneously - ed.
hormone pellets]," and "something (as a graft or pellet) implanted in
tissue." In ufological parlance, an implant is usually meant as a
"tracking device" placed by the abductors in order to keep tabs on the
subject, not unlike the more crude electronic artifacts our scientists
place on animal species under study. In these cases, the wild specimen
is captured, tagged and then released back to his environment. The
analogy, as you can see, it quite straightforward.
Unfortunately, we are not at liberty to
divulge either the name or university where the physicist works, nor to
quote verbatim from his "Preliminary Description" of "Artifact
889," since he has requested anonymity for the time being. Yet this
author knows who he is and where he works, and has a copy of his
preliminary report, as well as the original handwritten notes of his
first observations of Richard's implant. Needless to say, the
investigation is still ongoing, but as Richard put it, "he doesn't know
what it was, and he still doesn't know."
THE ANALYSIS
According to
the physicist's preliminary report, he received Artifact 889 on August
22, 1989. Before it was cut in two pieces, the object could be divided
in three components: an amber-colored interior, a white coating and at
least 6 small appendages. The interior exhibited a translucent quality
and a uniform light brownish coloration. The white coating seemed to be
made of something like Teflon material. Analysis of the coating was
made with a scanning electron microscope with Auger electron energy
analysis. The covering itself consisted mainly of carbon (90%)
with tantalum (10%) and oxygen (3%), as well as traces of nitrogen. The
scientist thought that these could be "scar tissue," but
inconsistencies in the ratio between the elements were found.
Perhaps the most interesting findings were the
description of the appendages.
Photomicrographs and scanning electron microscopic images showed
clearly that these tiny appendages had what looked like 3-prong clamps
that resembled hooks and twisted cables. This was entirely consistent
with Richard's description of how the aliens inserted the implant with
a special device. "I could remember during the abduction that it looked
liked they were hooking up this thing underneath the skin," he said
adding that some of his descriptions were made before the implant
popped out.
That was not all, however. The physicist also
found out that when put in water vapor, the appearance of the
appendages would change: they looked translucent and white when they
were damp and black when they were dry. One was even seen to change its
color to a fairly bright red. When I myself looked at the object during
the Trenton UFO Conference, it seemed like a little black dot, a very
small metallic piece or a dark pebble. I have not seen it under the
microscope, but I have viewed the photos which show the alleged wires
and even one magnification which oddly resembles a little skier.
This in essence is what I can report about the
analysis of Richard Price's implant up to this moment. In other words,
it remains a mystery. There is no explanation as to why it was in his
body in the first place, what it is exactly, and what is its purpose,
if any.
That in a nutshell is Richard Price's extraordinary
story. Despite the length of this article and the following interview,
we have still left out many interesting details, including a puzzling
"missing time" incident that happened a few years ago when Richard was
working as a cab driver. Hopefully, the full story will come out
sometime soon in Richard's own words in book form. Those readers who
are interested in contacting him directly for more information or to
obtain a videotaped interview with him, can do so by writing and
sending a self-addressed, stamped envelope to P.O. Box 672, Latham, NY

The Alien Implant…….....…
…............…the Years after..
by
Richard Price & Pauline Price

The years that followed brought many changes to my life.
Some that I did not like and others that I did. There were also things that
happened that people took the wrong way or misunderstood and the information
was never corrected, including the university and the scientist who did the
testing of the implant material.
I have been in the process for many years writing a book about all this.
Most of my private life is not included here. I do want to say that I have
remarried twice and most of that info will be in the book. To begin, I will
try to show you the chronological order of events that have happened and
as best I can remember, share with you what has been happening in my life,
and where I am now.
In February, 1990, I called a certified public accountant in Florida, who also
sold a UFO Abduction Insurance policy as a gimmick. There was an article
in our local paper about him, so I inquired and got the policy. Approximately
a week later, he called me back and asked me if I would do a segment with
him on “Hard Copy”, a TV tabloid news show. They wanted to meet a person
who actually got the insurance. The show aired on February 23, 1990.
Ben Jamison, a man I had met years ago (about 1980), was at a meeting I had
with some other people. I am including him here because of the significance
of this part of my story. Ben was invited to this meeting, by these
people, to hear my account of the abduction, because he was an area UFO investigator.
Ben is a math professor at the State University of New York at Albany.
After this meeting, Ben and I met quite often to talk. We got together many
times at a HO JO's restaurant, not only to go over some of my UFO happenings,
but we also talked about my family. This was a concern with all the public
attention it would cause. If articles were to be written about me or
TV news media was to air my account, it may have an affect on my boys in
school.
Ben went to a UFO conference on Long Island and met Bill Knell, a UFO investigator
from Queens, one of the New York City boroughs. While there, Ben told Bill
Knell my story and he became interested in my UFO account, because this was
after the implant had came out. Ben returned from Long Island and told me
about Bill, and asked me to contact him, so we could get together and talk.
Ben and I still got together, but not as often. Ben felt that the media attention
I needed would come from Bill. He was a host of a local UFO show on cable
TV, on Long Island.
Bill, along with many others, saw me on “Hard Copy”. Bill called me one night
and asked if I would go to a UFO convention in Trenton, New Jersey. March
30, and 31, 1990. He paid my expenses to and from the convention. Months
later, I had found out that he was selling video tapes of an interview he
did with me and because he never made a contract with me or paid any royalties,
I felt I could not trust him, I decided to end all my involvement with him.
(One last thing he did just before this, was getting me on as a guest on
the Joan Rivers Show.)
I met Pat Marcattillo, the coordinator of the convention in New Jersey. At
his request, I gave a short account about what happened and was able to show
people part of the implant. I also had microscopic pictures of the implant
that was taken at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (M I T).
Also, on that weekend, I met Antonio Huneeus. His article appears above. I
was interviewed here at the convention by Antonio, for the article in “UFO
UNIVERSE” Magazine.
During the time and after Antonio published the article above, we stayed in
contact. I have been to his home and had many conversations pertaining to
the abduction with him. He introduced me to many people in the UFO research
field. I had attended many conferences with his help. I organized a UFO conference
with the help of some friends that was so successful for the place we used,
we had to turn people away. This was in Latham, NY, not far from Albany.
Antonio came and was part of the lecturers that were present that night.
After people read Antonio's Article in UFO Universe, he began getting requests
from people and other journalists, from all over the world, to use portions
of the article in their publications. I was even asked to be a part of a
book that was written by someone in France. Also, a television producer in
Japan published a book with a section in it about my abduction. A year later,
I was asked to be part of a Sony Play Station game called “Chasin’ the UFO”.
It was mostly available in Japan only.
While being a guest on the Joan Rivers Show, that aired May 25, 1990, I was
able to meet Rosemary Osnato, another abductee I had heard about. I also
met a noted UFO Researcher/writer (of several books) by the name of Budd
Hopkins, who, later in the day, invited me to his home to share information.
Two weeks after the Joan Rivers Show, I was asked again by Bill Knell to
return to New York City and Trenton, NJ, because some TV producers wanted
to tape my story, one from Japan for Nippon Television. The other from California
(Hollywood) I met in New York, at a hotel in Queens. He worked on the story
with United States Air Force Ret. LT. Col. Wendell Stevens, who with Brigadier
General Charles (Chuck) Yeager, are two men from the Air Force I have admired
for years and always wanted to meet. I finally met one of them during this
visit. I stayed in New York City for 3 days. I was also on a cable TV show
in Long Island, that was about UFO’s.
Over the summer of 1990, it was somewhat peaceful, without having to do
any lectures or interviews. In September ’90, a reporter called me. He wrote
for a group of newspapers. I don’t recall where he was from, but in the
first week of October, an article about me appeared in the tabloid paper “Weekly
World News.” At the same time, “Copleys News Service” asked me to do radio
shows. Not knowing what was about to happen in the next two weeks, I was
going with almost no sleep. I was bombarded with phones calls from radio
stations all over the world. Talk shows got the information from Copleys
News Service. Most of the calls came during the night. Some stations were
nice enough to call in the day time and tell me they would call back at 3:00
in the morning to interview me. Others didn’t care, they just called. Some
of the stations were from Australia and New Zealand.
On January 27, 1991, the Times Union, a Newspaper in Albany, NY, had an article
about me, after I was interviewed by a staff writer. About three months later,
a reporter from the Associated Press saw it and did a national story that
appeared in the papers on Mothers Day, May 5, 1991.
In the last week of September 1991, I received a call about being on CNBC
cable station, affiliated with NBC. It was a talk show with guest host, G.
Gordon Liddy. The show was live at night. A researcher that was on the show
with me, who I did not know, and myself, stayed in a very plush hotel near
Fort Lee, NJ. We were really treated nice. I was taken to and from CNBC,
the hotel and Penn station by limousine.
In June of ’92, I was invited to be part of a UFO Conference at MIT. My public
relations manager at the time made all the arrangements for the 5 day stay.
I went by car with Ben Jamison, the researcher I knew from the area, who
also attended the conference.
Here at the conference, researchers from all over the world came to present
their finding of UFO related activity. Abductees were invited to attend the
conference to share their experiences and share information with those of
the group.
After the five day conference was over, I think, in my opinion, some left
with more questions than answers. Later, a book was released about the conference.
In it, Professor Pritchard told about his research with the piece of material
from part of the implant that he had. The article included a report from
a doctor at Boston General Hospital who Professor Pritchard got a second
opinion from. He was using information that Professor Pritchard gave him
instead of an independent research study on the material. Because of this,
and other facts that arose from the testing done on the implant, I had a
negative attitude toward the results. When pictures were taken of the implant,
the so called “wires” were said to be cotton fibers when compared to micro
photos of the same. My disagreement was the magnification was done at different
levels. To me, it was like comparing a basketball to an orange.
After Professor Pritchard distributed his book containing the facts about
the implant, everyone took the results as final. Although it took him about
two years to research the implant and explain his results, I didn’t except
it because I had professional friends that felt his work was not done scientifically.
In April of ’91, a little more than a year after she saw me on “Hard
Copy”, I met a lady who told me she was a biologist. She wanted to see some
of the photos that were taken at MIT of the implant. She was getting my newsletters
from her son who is interested in UFOs . I do not know her son, as he is
not on my mailing list, but I understand he gets it from someone in California
that is on my list.
In August of ’97, I was single again. I had moved many times and was told
people had a hard time finding me. However, after I had rented a motel
room, about a week later, I received a phone call from the same lady I had
met in April of ’91. She was visiting a local laboratory again and had heard
about the MIT results from a lady there who knew were I was.
She came over to the motel with two cases, a microscope in one and the other
had medical supplies. She used the microscope to look at my piece of the
implant. This piece of the implant has a black object imbedded in the material
and has never been looked at. It can be seen in microscopic pictures. Other
professional people knew about it including Professor Pritchard After
viewing the object and describing what she saw, she left it alone as I asked
and cut a very small piece of the material to take so that she could do a
DNA test and a few other tests.
She called back about three days later to tell me she did not get a good
DNA match. She also mentioned several other inconsistencies pertaining to
the report by Professor Pritchard.
An article about this was in my newsletter. Copies of it can still be obtained.
Not much more needs to be said for the “YEARS AFTER” except I have not finished
the book yet called, “WHAT AFFECTS YOUR LIFE?”. I have been still moving
here and there. Moved to North Carolina then back to New York for a year.
Now, back in North Carolina. I have been married for more than two years.
No one has come forward to ask me about testing or analyzing the black object
the way I want it done. Until then it will remain part of “the Smoking Gun”.

WINTER SKIES
While gazing into winter skies,
Orion the Hunter within it lies.
Betelgeuse the star so bright,
helps light up a long cold night.
With dippers point to Polaris star,
around its circle many heros there are.
Perseus, brave Titan he would be,
remembered as hero by you and me.
Hercules, the man of unending strength,
would save his friends at any length.
Cassiopeia and Andromeda too,
among these men they hold so true.
Not to forget Pegasus the horse,
who, special to Perseus of course.
Zeus, the god of their faith on high,
somewhere among them he must lie.
They will be remembered by you and me,
by those who believe in Greek mythology.
For those who don't the saying goes,
the stars just shine within its glows.

My music roots that led to Country.
In fifth grade, I
started to play the viola. I wish I still played it. It was a
disappointment to many people that knew how well I played, that I was
going to quit playing. I was even given the chance to see and meet
Leonard Bernstein and the New York Philharmonic Orchestra when they
appeared in Troy, New York in 1959. It was the greatest concert I ever
attended.
In ninth grade, I gave up playing viola to play guitar.
It seemed the thing to do because I could join in with friends that
played as well. I learned to play by ear and records became my
collection. My dad had ties with a record store, so I was able to, most
of the time get first pick of rock groups that just came out with a 45.
My idols were the liking of George Harrison of the Beatles, B B King,
Chuck Berry, Jimi Hendrix, and Chet Atkins. Music became a big part of
my life. It was a therapeutic relief for me. It kept my mind off what
happened when I was eight years old. I had a band between the years of
1964 and 1968. When Rock music took a turn in a different direction, I
went to Country. It sounded like Rock with a steel guitar. Then my
favorites became, Neal McCoy, Ricky Lynn Gregg, Steve Wariner,
Blackhawk, and most of all Alan Jackson. I have seen Alan Jackson in
concert four times. I met Steve Wariner when he did a show at a small
club in Hinsdale, Massachusetts. Many other country entertainers I also
had the opportunity to meet. Some of them I have linked below to their
web pages.
Somewhere between all the music I was interested in
bagpipe music. I love to hear the pipes play. I have albums of bagpipe
music. I have attended some of the gatherings to listen to the mass
bands as they play in competition. The icon here of the piper with
caption creag an tuirc stands for "meet me at the boars rock." It is
the motto of Clan MacLaren. The Patrick name is a sept of the Clan. I
wear some items of the tartan whenever possible.
