Dreamville got its first settlers, ranchers
(S.J. Ranch) and also the general store was completed on that day. Afterwards other
establishments took root and it officially became a town on June 11, 1859 (Saturday) with
Teaspoon naming it Dreamville and towns folks agreeing to it.
Summary: In October Teaspoon was
approached by the Pony Express to establish a waystation for young riders to deliver the
mail from one place to another. On October 30, 1859, Teaspoon hired some young riders to
be Pony Express riders. On November 4, Teaspoon was appointed sheriff by a circuit judge
because no one else would take the position. The jailhouse was built and finished on
November 27. |
