Summary: Parents worked for Vin Benard but took the Yellow Fever in 1855
and died. Vin lost a lot of good workers and friends due to the epidemic.
 Mother was Nanny and Head Cook. Father was ranch hand. John was good
with numbers and Vin gave him a scholarship to go to school. John wanted
to be banker after the banker gave up the bank, but thought he needed
schooling, so Vin sent him to school. He was playmates with the Hamiltons
and Benards, but not so close to think of them as family.
