Summary: Kat was born in Mexico, but she moved north to Wyoming territory when she was 16 to escape a tyrannical father who had arranged for her to marry a local, wealthy man's son in order to secure his own future. Kat did not want to be trapped in a loveless marriage and knew for a fact that the son (who we'll call Enrique) was a violent, abusive man. As you can guess, she had to run away from home and has not seen her family since...however, she loved her mother and siblings very much and who knows, they may pop up in 3 Crossings someday.

Anyway, before she made it to Wyoming, Kat made a little stop at a certain mission school that our friends Ike and Buck went to. However, she only stayed a short while and was gone before Buck arrived so she never met him.

She's not very trusting of men, secretly believing that most of them are like her father--selfish brutes. She's gonna be new in town and will acquire a job at the restaurant as a waitress. Kat is very secretive, untrusting, hard to get to know, but underneath a pretty nice gal, and fiercely independent.
