Summary: Victoria was born in Three Crossings the summer after her parents moved there. They came west to raise their family after both of their parents died when a tornado struck their small Southern town. The Hamiltons soon became close friends of the Benards. Victor was a foreman on the ranch and was killed when someone tried to take the cattle.

After 16 years of trying for another child, Gloria was pregnant when her husband was killed. Six months later she gave birth to Allen, but she was so heartbroken that she didn't survive the birth. She was able to die knowing that she gave birth to a son, but passed on before she could name him. Victoria and her infant brother were taken in by Vin Barnard with the condition that she does the same chores as his own children. She promised she would, and she also promised to get a job to feed herself and her brother. Vin told her that wasn't necessary, but knew that it was for the girls own since of worth. Vic and Veronquie are as close as sisters since they both were raised on the ranch together anyway.
