WE HAVE AN EXTRA SEAT

Well here it is Thanksgiving time,
My how time does fly.
As I look out of my window,
There are clouds up in the sky.

Stuffed turkey's in the oven,
Gosh does it smell grand.
Grama's bringing pumpkin pies,
The greatest in the land.

Aunt Mary's bringing home made bread.
With crust so golden brown,
I swear that I can smell it now,
But she lives clear 'cross town.

Mamma has her apron on,
Shes dustin. and a cleanin'
And polishin' the silverware,
Oh boy is it a gleamin'

She's making apple dumplings,
My gosh do they smell yummy.
I can hardly wait to have one,
Sittin' in my tummy.

A great big pot of sweet potatoes,
Simmers on the stove.
She'll bake them soon with marshmallows,
I want me some of those.

There's cherry jello sittin',
On the back poarch getting cold.
It really looks so fancy ,
In that great big jello mold.

Cranberry sauce and celery,
Stuffed with cheddar cheese.
And lots of good black olives,
May I have seconds please?

There'll be some mashed potatoes,
Boy she made a lot.
And look at all that gravy,
In that great big china pot.

Now someone's knockin' at the door,
Its almost supper time.
Well here come uncle Charlie,
With a great big jug of wine.

Now every one is seated,
And we bow our heads to pray.
And thank the Lord for all we have,
On this Thanksgiving Day.

Please Dear Lord we ask thee,
To bless the poor and needy.
And give them shelter, warmth and love.
Protect them from the greedy.

We have an empty chair you see,
For someone who needs food.
And over by the fireplace,
Is a great big pile of wood.

So if, Dear Lord there is someone,
Who needs a place to eat.
Please send them knocking at our door.
WE HAVE AN EXTRA SEAT.
