There’s over three thousand reasons to cry today
September eleven, two thousand and one
For this is the day that the whole world was changed
So many things we once believed have come undone
Forty-four countries lost countrymen
For no reason at all they could find
We feel anger and fear and defiance and doubt
And we wish that we could turn back time

But on the ground there’s a shadow cast
Of our flag hanging at HALF MAST
Waving proudly in the wind
Because it knows it will rise again

As a nation rallies ‘round its heroes
A call is heard from all over the world
To change the way we’ve all been doing things
To work together and love a little more
The skyline tomorrow will look different somehow
As Lady Liberty stands beside it
Like her, united we stand together as one
A globe of citizens now undivided
