Collections of Reviews
Most classical music fans in the United States probably read
Fanfare or American Record Guide
religiously, while our counterparts in the United Kingdom are most
likely to consult Gramophone monthly. Smaller
publications exist as well to fill the same need, guidance as to which
of the ever-more-expensive newly-released compact discs should be added
to our growing collections. On the theory that there are never enough
good reviews to go around, I list a few substantial home page
collections of reviews that seem to be worth looking at:
Another site that is worth visiting is
Classical Insites
which offers an online version of Fanfare magazine.
Unfortunately, the powers there have decided that if your
browser does not support frames, you cannot access their index page.
Luckily, this philosophy has not trickled down to the actual
FANFARE page, which is readable by most
types of browsers.
Look down the list of offerings for the link to reviews, which
are kept in a separate file.
I'll be happy to consider other compilations if readersbring them to my
attention.
