Cheeckwood

Cheeckwood is a great Nashville attraction. It's a 1920's mansion built on 55 beautiful acres of land. It houses a museum of fine art and sculpture. It also has some beautiful botanical gardens. A tea room, gift shop, and resturant is also on the prmisies.

Cheekwood was designed and landscaped by Bryant Fleming, a landscape architect from Ithaca, New York. The original site was 100 acres of hilly, wooded land west of the center of town, at the end of the streetcar line. The mansion was constructed at the top of a hill, providing sweeping views of the surrounding Harpeth Hills. Fleming and Mr. and Mrs. Cheek traveled throughout Europe in order to obtain furnishings and decorative items for the home, such as garden sculptures, doors, mantelpieces, and portions of the oval staircase. Construction began in 1929 and was completed in 1932.

To Celebrate Christmas, Cheekwood is decking out 15 Christmas trees in the brand style. The show is called, "Trees of Christmas". It should be an absolutely fabulous show.
