We have arranged to have a joint Field Day with the Diamond Bar Amateur Radio Society
at the Summitridge Park in the city of Diamond Bar.
The Summitridge Park site is on the top of a bluff in one of the parks in Diamond Bar,
and is an excellent Field Day site.
DBARS has a 30' communications trailer which will be towed to the site by the
City of Diamond Bar.
Doug Nafzgar, WN6ODF, has offered us the use of his Motor Home as a place to eat,
sleep etc. during the Field Day exercise.
This Field Day should be even more exciting and fun than usual!
Directions to the site:
Take the 57 freeway North or South
(depends on where you're starting from) to Diamond Bar.
Exit Grand Avenue and head East.
Cross over Diamond Bar Blvd (1.1 miles from the exit), and continue
East on Grand Avenue to Summitridge Drive (another .9 miles).
Go North on Summitridge (.2 miles) and you will come to the entrance to the park.
There is a big sign that says Summitridge Park, 1425 Summitridge Drive.
Our Field Day site is at the top of the hill off Parking Lot B. (see map).
When going East on Grand Avenue, if you come to Longview,
you've passed the intersection with Summitridge Drive.
Turn around and come back.
And if you're going North on Summitridge and you come to Breckinridge Court,
you've missed the turn-off into the Park. Make a U-turn and try again.
Note that there is an entrance to the Park off Grand Avenue. That leads to
Parking lot A, and you don't want to go there. You need to take the
entrance off Summitridge Drive, which leads to Parking Lot B.
This all sounds more complicated than it really is. I (N6ZAE) drove over there and
found Parking Lot B with no trouble. See you at Field Day!
