A Moderator is the Yahoo! name for the people who operate a group. The designation amounts to having a few privileges and responsibilities the rest of the members do not possess and probably wouldn't want. They are responsible for deleting posts and undesirable personnel,1 setting up chat sessions and Internet meetings,2 creating special photo albums, sending mass e-mail to the member list,3 changing and maintaining the group description and Welcome message, setting up and running contests and games, and settling disputes. In short, in trying to keep the place tidy and running smoothly.

In the Yahoo! Group IRCFlirt, we tend to keep the list short to a few, well-trusted souls who have been around the block and have a pretty good idea what's going on most of the time. There are, in general, about one Founder for every fifty members with our current membership at just over two hundred.

Notes:

  1. The deleting posts and undesirable personnel is governed by strict guidelines. Undesirable posts are to be copied and forwarded to our owner, Jen2Jen for a final determination whether the removal was warranted and to allow the reporting of frequent violators or persons abusing the system to Yahoo!. The removal of undesirable personnel is made as a group decision when possible and requires the documentation of the offense. Once a person is removed from this IRCFlirt that person is banned and may not rejoin the community without reregistering a new identity with Yahoo!.

  2. There are no current regular chat sessions scheduled. If you would like to suggest a time, please contact the moderators.

  3. At present, the only mass mail sent our members are special notices as the situation warrants. We may resume mailing of a monthly newsletter once activity warrants such a publication.
