Gryphons At Rest
She has her fingers tangled in his hair, brushing it back from his face in rhythm with the soft song she sings to him.
"who knows how long I've loved you, you know I love you still. Will I wait a lonely lifetime? If you want me to I will"
His hand reaches up to brush hers, and he mumbles incoherantly in his sleep. She smiles, knowing the words were probably violent and "by the book" explainations of one rule or the other. Bending low, she presses a kiss to his parted lips and sighs when he whispers her name into the air. He knows she is there.
Stretching out beside him, she slides a leg over his body...one hand touching his chest, fingers dancing in tiny circles. He turns to face her, and she smiles at him through the darkness. Tonight, he's walking in his dreams. She can catch glimpses of faces and places he loves. Mountains and water that seems to run on endlessly...and snow. And, she can see the smiles of a dear friend as the gryphon makes a flying visit in the middle of the night.
She knows he is going to be alright now. Her eyes close and she joins him in sleep. Her mind content in the fact that, at last, he walks the night again. With a giggle and a sigh, she shoves aside a stuffed and well loved bedpartner and snuggles in closer.
"Would I wait a lonely lifetime? If you want me to, I will."
Gryphon at Rest....surrendered to the dreaming...free to fly as high as he wishes....free to walk in peace.
