Seeking


I would laugh with joy
if it happened-
if you were the 
peace I was seeking
all along,

right in front of my eyes...

I would be thrilled
beyond belief
if the one I've been
patiently (ha!)
waiting for
was you-
with your
self deprecating
demeanor,
and careless laugh...

I know that I could love you...

And with all of the turmoil
that I have put myself through-
how I would smile
if what I'd been seeking was you...
