A Message To All Parents by Becky's Mom |
|
|
To All Parents
"I'll lend you for a little time a child of mine," He said, "For you to love the while he lives and mourn for when he is dead. It may be six or seven years, or twenty-two or three, But will you, till I call him back, take care of him for Me? He'll bring you all his charms to gladden you, and shall his stay be brief, You'll have his lovely memories as solace for your grief."
"I cannot promise he will stay, since all from earth return. But there are lessons taught down there I want this child to learn. I've looked this wide world over in my search for teachers true, And from the throngs that crowd life's lanes, I have selected you. Now will you give him all your love, nor think the labor vain, Nor hate Me when I come to call to take him back again?"
I fancied that I heard them say, 'Dear Lord Thy will be done,' For all the joy Thy child shall bring, the risk of grief we'll run. We'll shelter him with tenderness, we'll love him while we may, For all the happiness we've known, forever grateful stay. But shall the angels call for him much sooner than we planned, We'll brave the bitter grief that comes, and try to understand. by Edgar Guest |

The Poem "To all Parents" was given to me by a neighbor after Becky died. I carry this poem in my wallet at all times to remind me that we are all here on this earth, on loan, by the Father who gives us life.. It is a privelege and an honor to be Becky's Mom and I do not regret one day of her life here on earth with us.
Becky was a joy to all who knew her. Becky was always trying something new and could never get enough out of life. Her favorite song by "Garth Brooks", sums it up how Becky felt about life. One part of the song says....."I'm glad I didn't know how it all would end, how it all would go. Our lives are better left to chance, I could have missed the pain, but I would have had to miss, The Dance."
Each day is the only chance that you have with your children and it is so precious..... don't miss out on "The Dance." |

Becky died on July 30, 1994 - in her sleep, at the age of 16.
Becky was the youngest of 3 daughters. She was a joy to all who knew her. Becky found it very easy to make friends of all ages. She was born with many of the same traits that her two older sisters had, but Becky had a twist all her own. She was smart and sensitive like her sisters but she had her own sense of style. She like doing things her own way even if that meant being different from the rest of the crowd. Becky had been chosen to represent her school as an Exchange Student to Sweden for her Junior Year of High School. She was very excited about going and everything was set to go. She was packed and ready to leave on August 5th, just 5 days prior to her death. Needless to say we are all shocked and saddened by her death, but very relieved that if it was to happen.....that it was here with us and not in a country far away.
Becky's loved to hunt and fish with her Dad and even took up Bow hunting. Becky also loved nature and would often take walks back to the river behind our house to watch the Eagles that nested there.
Becky was very close to her sisters and for the most part they all got along (the way that sisters do). Becky didn't like being the youngest. She always wanted to do what her older sisters where doing and that they always got to do things first. I would have to remind her that they were older and that she would be able to do those things when she was older. But her comment was always the same....."but they will always be older than me."
On the First Anniversary of Becky's death.....we celebrated her LIFE and all she meant to all of us by sending her messages attached to balloons.
Becky you are sadly missed by all who knew you and you will never be forgotten. Love, MOM. |
