Sexuality and Ice Cream Theory
by Jack Offenhouser
Who are all these people in the world that argue over other people's choices when it comes to sex?  The argument itself is the problem.  Ice Cream Theory says that a person's sexual preference is about as important as their preference for ice cream.  Could you imagine being called names and harassed because your favorite flavor is Rocky Road?  What if your boss said that everyone in the company must choose chocolate as their favorite ice cream or be fired?  If these examples sound stupid to you, then maybe so is the debate over someone who is gay or straight.  And why is it your business or concern? Do you go out of your way to gossip about someone who likes vanilla? No.  That would be a waste of time, and no one would care anyway.  The same goes for a person's sexual preference.  It should be a trivial and benign matter not worth the time to talk about.  So the next time you find yourself in a debate over homosexuality or heterosexuality being right or wrong, remember Ice Cream Theory and realize that you don't have to choose sides because the whole argument is ridiculous anyway.
