This is the result of a pebble thrown into relatively calm water. The waves not only expand away from origin...
They also expand away from eachother, ...they have to. The actual "wave length" gets longer.
If we used light waves instead of water...
Everyone would be fooled into thinking there is a greater "red shift" with greater distance,
Leading to a... "Big Misconception"
