A slave to silence
A meal for pain
Housed in darkness
Stunted growth
Love splintered
By the fragments of a broken heart
Violence echoed
By the bruises on the soul and skin
Trust swallowed for entree
Faith for dessert
Kissed by the blade
Heart plunged deep by a lie
Burnt by the flame... from vacant eyes
Her tears caress her face
Her cry for help muffled by their indifference
Chained to the darkness
Eyes blind to the light of hope
Youth stolen
Aged by atrocity
Rhythm so strong
The girl lost... replaced by a young woman
A stranger to herself
She reaches out
Grasping for something... anything
Clutching only air
The breath of those who fled
And those isolated by ignorance
Veiled by his deeds unspoken
Left with the sympathy of a smirk
She breathes on
A lone soldier
Survival her purple heart
Drowning in a river of torment
Losing sight of the banks of normality
Swept by the current of suffering
Weighted down by compromise
Legs scratched by the rocks of insanity
Body shivering and shaken
Cold from the memories remembered
Wishing for the ease that lets her forget
Mesmerised by the reflection of her determination
Trying to numb the rhythm
Listening to the beat of his words
Prepared for the prose of his fists
She welcomes the end
Afraid of life
A victim once
Life would make it twice
Justice only her dream
Truth buried with her identity
Both unknown
He attaches his handcuffs
To make her his own
His poison runs through her
Her heart beats on
Her soul lets go...
