Darkness falls across me
My head and heart is heavy
and I am fettered to silence
Yearning to break free from
its enslavement...

Beyond words, my soul calls
Seeking a gentle ear
that won't lose the meaning or intent of my calling
through the tangle of
words...

A moment, and there shone light
In my life of shadows
A glimpse of brightness
in the abyss...

Blinking away the pain of hope,
though it made my shackles
sparkle and shine
The depths seemed too great
to reach through
My thoughts so jumbled
they could not form words

Denying hope a place to stay
Declaring "no vacancies"
To the vagrant traveller
Hope slinks away with weary feet

The glow of hope and dreams
snuffed out by pain and emptiness
The depth of shadows
suffocating the light

I heard a voice...
A quiet, but steady voice
It kept piercing my silence
So gently
at first I knew it not...

I whispered back
It was talking to me, through soft words
and the heart of a sweet soul
I kept whispering, through the haze
I discovered a gentle ear
A destination for my bleeding words

Solace for a struggling soul
In the company of a warm friend
Who eclipses my darkness
for a moment...

Those who are true to you... do not scurry out under the cover of darkness when your life gets hard... they stay and offer light from within...
The path grew hard and the 'glimmer of hope' scurried out growing deaf and dim with each step into the distance...
