Hollow Tree

Shedding its clothes
Thrown on the floor
Trampled under foot
Discoloured by age
Leaves are evicted...
from Life

The seasons move into each other
Snow on wooden arms
Bare look of death
Hope burrows into the ground
Weaving through roots...
anchored to Life

Bright laughter echoes
Colourful petals
New life born
Conceived when the cold...
locked us away

Bees buzz 'Thanks'
To flowers that receive them
Children's souls
Feeding their tree
With sunny warmth
Embracing its limbs
climbing into its heart
Touching the landscape of childhood

The leaves fall whispering
The years have passed on
The children have grown
Many branches higher
Joy carves their names
Into its trunk

The laughter is gone
Slinking out with bare feet
Their swing pushed... by the breath of the breeze
A comforting gesture
To a tree: hollowed
By the children
It lost...
