Sunday Nights

Dark eyes give birth to
merciless images
Bound by cruel intentions
slinking through angry shadows

Shadows that scratch
Peeling away security and trust
as the crimes of the innocent

Where are our saviours?
And who are those that stand by?
leaving our screams to be stolen by the emptiness
Our pain drowning in silence
Blinking away the blood running past their door

When evil retreats
into the darkness of cowardly hiding
it covers not its accomplices

The soul-less become
those that turned the volume up louder
to muffle out cries
Who turned out their lights and so
blinked out all hope
Who looked at the phone
as a knife in the chest
And forgot the worth of the life
their apathy helped kill.
