"We shall not disappear for we and the land are One."

After Grandfather killed the soldier he escaped into the Texas territory. This is where I believe he met my G.G. Grandmother. Below are the words I had in my dream.

The Gathering

I am a descendent of the old ones who have walked this earth before. They talk with me through my dreams and share their wisdom and truths. "We the people of this earth are one. We are the caretaker's and care giver's of this land. Be true to yourself and be honest with others." The Spirit's of those who have gone before us share many secrets. "Take not of what you are unwilling to give. Your talents, dreams and good fortune should be shared. Live in peace and harmony with the earth and it's creatures.

In my dreams I could see him dancing round a fire.

For this is the way life is meant to be. Go first and find yourself before seeking others. For the true wisdom of life is within." "Oh my children be kind to yourselves, you are most precious to the Great Spirit. We who have gone before have completed our circle. It is now your turn to journey. May it be full of love.

FOR LOVE IS THE ONLY TREASURE WORTH SEEKING!

'Chief Sequoya'
was named in honor of the Cherokee warrior who devised the Cherokee alphabet.

Looking for a home

As you might notice, all the Indians have their mouth's open. I believe that it is time to listen to these gentle people. Is this not their home? Were they not here first? They welcomed the people into their homes and then their homes were taking away. Is this something we want to teach our children?

The beauty of these people comes from many things. Their life style, their sense of family and their understanding of the land and the creatures that walk upon it.

After a long day of hunting and gathering they would gather round the fire. If you could stand on a distance hill you could hear their drums which you could feel within every bone, right to your toes and you would have a sense of being one with the Earth and its People.

Here we have a young brave beginning a chant. As you lean closer you may even hear his song.

'Night Song'

He's a beautiful singer

Looking for a home

Since I have no formal background in design or sculpting. It was exciting to watch the faces appear. I started first by making a skull piece which I fired. Than slowly by laying on the clay the faces seem to come alive. I found that even the teeth seem to be very important. Each tooth was place in the mouth one by one. Each one also seem to have his own style of dress.

The Medician Man was not only a healer but a honored, trusted member of the tribe. His knowledge of herbs plants, animals, the seasons and stars and so much more is extremely important to the tribe. Almost everything he knew was handed down from generation to generation. He had a name for every tree and he knew how to use the roots of the plants to heal. Even today many of the herbs we use we learned from the Medician Man.

He was often called upon for advice in other matters of the tribe as well. He always has a place of honor in the tribe.
