Jeanne de Saint-Remy was the daughter of a poor farmer in the Champagne region. She claimed herself as the descendant of King Henri II, therefore she was the last of the Valois dynasty, the dynasty before Bourbon that story was set.
Jeanne was neglected by family. She went barefoot, milked the cows and often had nothing to eat but the charity soup from the village. Her father died without leaving anything to her. Fortunately, she was taken up by a kind marquise.
With the Marquise’s pension as dowry, Jeanne married a solder of the police militia (instead of a royal guard in the episode), Nicolas de la Motte.
She was twenty-five when she first met Rohan. She was a woman with white skin, chestnut hair and small breasts, remarkable with her winning smile and driving will that certainly attracted Rohan.
Then Jeanne kept contact with Rohan and led to the Diamond Necklace Affair. She was branded "V" and imprisoned for life. But two years later, she escaped to England and wrote her memoir.
She was not caught by Royal Guards in France like RoV story. She was not murdered either.
