St. Just was described as "A brain of fire, a heart of ice".
He was the child of a retired French army officer Jean de Saint Just de Richebourg and his wife Jeanne Marie Robinot, the daughter of a notary. But his dad was not a noble. His dad died when he was young. He mom brought him up.
In 1786, he left home with St. Just family’s silver and gold, and went to Paris without notifying his mom. His mom sent a letter to Chevalier d’Evry, an old friend of St. Just to arrest his son. St. Just was arrested. He did not apologise to his mom to exchange his freedom. Then, his mom had a resolution with him. He could be released if he agreed to go to School of Law in Rheims. He accepted. In 1787, he registered as the law school student. Therefore, he did not step on the stage before the French Revolution, like in RoV.
In 1792, he first stepped on the political stage as the elected deputy from Soissons.
On Louis XVI trial, he strongly suggested the death of the King. "Because Louis XVI was the enemy of the people, of their liberty and their happiness, my conclusion for death."
St. Just climbed up the political ladder through his activity in the constitutional debates. He was a member of the Jacobin club, the political party set up by Robespierre to influence new France on patriotism. He was also in the Committee of Public Safety, a committee by Rosbespierre to kill his opponents. Robespierre succeed in his dictatorship through the committee and brought France into The Reign of Terror. St. Just was Robespierre’s truthful follower. In RoV, St. Just always had ideas different from Robespierre, that was the opposite from the history.
In 1794, St. Just was arrested with Robespierre because people hatred the terror caused by their group. They were gullotined at the same date and at the same spot where Louis XVI was gullotined. St. Just was calm, a little pale, but without weakness when he died.
