Alpine German Kitchens

Welcome to my kitchen site, I hope you enjoy some of the things I have posted! If you have meaningful contributions to make, please send me your comments.

The Exclusive Shaker 2000 from Poggenpohl is a firm favourite for those who can afford it! Exceptional German quality, a solid maple door, makes for an excellent investment in the home!

A beautiful installation in Honeydew, a country district west of Johannesburg, South Africa. Local hand made tiles with intricate floral motifs are offset by a deep bottle green glazed tile to make a unique and highly attractive central feature below an open shelf flanked by two lattice glass door units. The whole worktop and wall below is lit by low voltage halogen lights recessed below the wall units.

Slate floor tiles give this spacious kitchen an earthy base from which to start building up a country look and feel. Walls are plastered and painted with inconsistencies in the thickness of the plaster left to show through the mottled ochre paint wash on white base coat. Fired clay bricks are used to define the arch above the ceramic hob area. The latest Gaggenau appliances were used here, and though ultra hi-tech in design and functionality, don’t detract from the overall warmth of this masterpiece.

Open wicker baskets, deep fryer, open shelf and under counter 90cm Gaggenau oven makes this "cooking wall" an absolute pleasure to work with!

A gas 4 plate hob serves as supplementary to the large ceramic, five plate hob and is an essential back-up in case of power failures! A Gaggenau microwave oven is installed undercounter, not a common occurance, but very effective in this instance.
