WOULD IF I COULD
When I was young, guess I was a fool,
got cees and dees,  most ' the time in school,
Ma said, "Son, you're wasting your days!
Why aren't you a gettin' "a"s?
And i said with a small chokey tear in my voice,
"It really isn't a matter of choice,
I know I should,
It's sad that I don't,
I would if I could,
but I can't!
So I won't.
Couldn't hit a baseball'
couldn't run a mile'
couldn't sing or write with any kind of style
couldn't get a job that paid,
couldn't learn a decent trade'
and when they asked, I said,
"Its sad that I don't,
I would if I could,
but I can't!
So I won't.
But, when you said,  'Please love me, true"
That I knew that I could do!
a funny feeling started to rise,
and I said, to my surprise,
"I know I should, and I think that I do!
I will, and I can! I'm in love with you!"
There ain't nothin' I can't do,
Since I fell in love with you,
I can climb a mountain,
I can roller skate,
I can love you plenty, and still get you home by eight,
Still don't know no algebra,
or any Shakespere sonnet,
and I'm not a rocket scientist,
but I'm workin' on it!
.....for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction...Did I say that??????
