When interviewing Eric, I found he first met Jessica while playing in the University Band at BJU.  He really didn't notice her until she asked HIM out on a reverse courtesy date.  (This is the way Eric's parents first went on a date.)  Time moved very slowly after that, because Eric is very slow.  He would ask Jessica out for this and for that, but never on a very consistent basis.
    A most memorable date occurred when they met for lunch at a Bible Conference.  This event is held annually at the Bob Jones University campus.  It is a week off from classes that consists of four church services a day.  Eric asked Jessica if she would like to eat on the Gallery Green.  She agreed (as Jessica nearly always did, if Eric would just ask) and even volunteered to bring the food.  Rather than make the food Jessica thought it would be best to have some fresh subs from Subway, located about 3/4 mile from campus.  Sprinting there after the last morning service in a skirt, she just made it back in time for lunch.  Eric commented that when he found out that she had gone through that trouble to get the sandwiches, his "heart leapt inside of him."
    The next major event in their relationship occurred the summer Eric decided to travel with the minutemen team.
