Reading Man

"Run quick! Run fast!
Before he opens his book!"
"Make room! Move over!
Fill each space and each nook!"
"I'm coming, I'll be there!
Save a place for me!"
So all the children gathered round
And waited for him to read
He told the Tale of Samuri Sam
And the Journey of J.P. Joe
He told of Ol' Benny From Birmingham
(But I forgot how it goes)
And now I sit here at ninety-two
Trying to recall those younger days
I can still remember the reading man
(I just can't remember what he said!)
