The series has been a ratings hit and critically acclaimed comedy since its premiere, performing well in a number of different day and timeslots. Season to date, it is winning its Tuesday (8-8:30 p.m. ET) time period in all key adult demographics as well as total viewers. In September, "Mad About You" attracted its best-ever season premiere ratings (up 18 percent in adults 18-49 and total viewers compared to its 1996-97 season debut), and more recently received raves from viewers and television critics with its form-breaking, one-take, one-camera episode "The Conversation."

Hunt is also a recent winner of a Golden Globe Award, a Screen Actors Guild Award and an American Comedy Award for her performance in the feature film "As Good as It Gets." Recent "Mad About You" guest stars Carol Burnett ("The Carol Burnett Show") and Mel Brooks ("Blazing Saddles," "Young Frankenstein") garnered Emmy Awards for their recurring guest-star performances as Jamie’s overprotective mother Theresa and Paul’s quirky Uncle Phil.
