The Artist at her Art School
In St Petersburg, Russia, Maria Bablyak attended the Baron Stieglitz Academy of Fine and Applied Arts from 1991 to 1996, where the art program offers excellent professional training in composition, painting, drawing, anatomy, and other specialized subjects.
She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts, specializing in Interior Design. Her formal education gives her a broad perspective in the Arts, since work in Architectural Interior Design requires knowledge and understanding of many artistic disciplines, including an excellent sense of composition, style, color, history, &c. Such versatility enables her to work in different artistic fields, which is in keeping with her active, inquisitive character. Her informal cultural education comes from her parents, both of whom were professional artists. Since 1996, Maria resides in the United States, where she has been doing renovation and restoration projects, architectural graphics projects, painting murals for public buildings as well as private homes, and concentrating on painting in different media, such as oil painting, and painting on silk. She has been exhibiting her work, as well as doing work on commission. In 2003, Maria received a Lorenzo il Magnifico Award at the Biennale d'Arte Contemporanea in Florence, Italy.
