moviediva.com logo

The next time you see a notice for a showing of an old film dating from the 1920s, '30s or '40s, and wonder if it's worth venturing out to see, or programming the VCR to tape for you at 3 a.m., visit moviediva.com and search the index for a review. Moviediva is one of the tireless devotées of these old film treasures responsible for keeping interest in them alive, and making sure they don't disappear forever. Her commentary strikes a balance between scholarship and movie-magazine enthusiasm, and the site is illustrated with classic film stills and other art. Don't skip moviediva junior's part of the site. The illustrations are wonderful, and the comments are appropriate for young, budding classic film fans.

Go To Project Gutenberg

Ever been curious to read Ben Franklin's autobiography? Know where to find a copy? It might be more difficult than you think. Classic literature, like classic films, can disappear all too easily unless we make an effort to spend some time with these works, to discover -- or rediscover -- the reasons they became classics. Project Gutenberg is a volunteer-produced and -run online library of public domain works that can be downloaded and enjoyed for free. Go there, read, and find out why our civilization is the way it is. While visiting, consider sending them a donation or volunteering your time.
