Reading Room Jo's Top Ten List

I found this hard, so I cheated and decided to do my favorite authors (mainly). I do tend to read this way, if I find a book I like I go and get other books by the same person.

1. The first book I read in class and loved…. The Inheritors by William Golding.
2. Georgette Heyer I devoured all of her historical romance when I was a teenager, one a day till they ran out then I started again.
3. Tolkien of course
4. John Wyndam my first foray into sci fi.
5. Dick Francis. I love all of his books for the humor and the ordinary people doing extraordinary things.
6. Stephen King not all but most. I loved The Stand, It, The Talisman and Through the Dragon’s Eye best.
7. David Eddings The Belgariad and the Mallorean I loved these books, still do.
8. Mercedes Lackey. Only recently discovered through the recommendation of darkwind. Still working my way through (she’s written lots) but have enjoyed them all so far.
9. Flowers for Algernon Daniel Keyes. This was a little book my daughter had to read for class and told me I had to read. Having worked with people with learning difficulties made this book all the more touching. I cried buckets. You must read this.
10. Jonathon and Faye Kellerman and James Patterson all murder mysteries …all good.
11. Lillian Jackson Braun The Cat Who…books. I love these little books all about a clever cat in a place where nothing much happens. They are great fun.
12. Jeffrey Dreaver also recently discovered. I have enjoyed them all but especially the most recent The Bone Collector and The Coffin Dancer. Guess what?…… murder mysteries again.

I could keep going but I think a top ten list with twelve is enough and I know I will remember others who should have been on this list.
