I feel that our sites should be required to state
on our pages that we do not want our avatars
posted in other galleries. Most of us already do
that, but I think it helps to have that in place
when confronting a thief. This way they can't say
they had no way of knowing this was wrong to do.
I definitely feel we need the blacklist because
Vpsters won't otherwise know what these offending
sites are doing. I've recently had a few run-ins
myself with theft of my work and it is very
upsetting.
My views on ownership are this... once a person
takes a picture and creates an avatar from it then
places it in their gallery, it belongs to them.
Not the original picture, but the avatar form of
it. That is what the art of avatar creation is
all about.
Devalin, you have been a tremendous help in
fighting this uphill battle. Myself and others
really appreciate all of your help. I agree with
the methods the guild now has in place for dealing
with offenders and think we should keep them.
As for sites linking our internal pages, I believe
they should be given the same set of rules as
people that post our avatars.
We can't stop *all* theft this way, but I really
do feel that having these methods makes some
people think twice about posting an av that is not
their own creation.
Again, Devalin, thank you for all of your help
with this!
