: : What are your views on sites that take other peoples avatars and post
: : them as their own, or setup a frames based site to steal your framed
: : avatar pages inside their own site ?
: : What action should the guild take against these sites ?
: : Should the guild approach the site first or the individual who made
: : the avatars ?
: : Is the black list worthwhile ?
: : Your views please
: First it takes the traffic away from a smaller site if
: someone like the avatar mall sets up using all our hard
: work as the basis for their site.
: Second oddly enough it tends to glut the av market with
: the same type av rather then a wider range of choice.
: Because.....they choice which of YOUR avs they want.
: I really dont know what you can do Devlin. The only effective
: action i can see is change the url to give them dead links but
: many of you have so many people who have linked to your sites.
: I was careful to keep my urls the same for that reason.
: There must be some action taken. Shelion is right they cant be
: allowed to get away with it.The thing is the guild blackballing
: wont change it...need a way to notify vp users and ask that they use
: the owner sites instead.
: I see alot of mine and more then a few from other member sites being
: recropped. Thing is mine still have my file name.gif on them...lol.
: Some are not changed at all. I hope there is a way to stop them its
: hard to see your work sitting on someone elses site. By the way thanks
: for all you very hard work.....cyn
I have put in hundreds of hours work on my site at least half of those
has been in searching for and scanning images. I am constatantly looking for new ideas for avatars
was I tempted to save time by grabbing somebody elses?
of course but who can take pride in their site if it is stolen?
maybe a suggestion should be that all members acticely watch for sites fencing (:>() avatars
and maybe put a statement on their sites as to the fact that theives will be blacklisted and give a link to
the guilds blacklist page thereby spreading the word who these offenders are
