Garden daffodils

You sucked me dry with your pathetic lies

You made me flowers from weeds.

You gave me security I'd never known

And yet left me incomplete.

You made me stand on one strong leg

Fly with nonexistent wings

When I fell, you told me well

Of more important things;

Of having fun and trusting none

Is how you lived your life.

You didn't care for anyone

And still, my soul took flight.

You didn't give me what I craved,

A friend who would be there;

And yet you gave me all your time

To make me more aware

Of people who would hurt me

Saying words that were untrue.

Of course you didn't realize,

The best example of all was you.
