June 1, 2003 - Utterly discombobulated

Happy June 1st!! WOw. hmm. What a day. It was one of those where everything is amusing... Chris slept over last night so that in itself was amusing. Umm... went to work today at Pottery Barn and met the new manager, Robert. I still miss Steven - who gave me my job, but Robert is really nice and fun to work with too. Anyways... several happenings "happened".

1. This girl Aimee was on the walkie and she was like, "Hi Lori are you online?" to which this guy Shawn replies, "Yes I am..."

2. Robert asked me to buzz Grant upstairs to see what time he was leaving so I'm like, "Hi this is Sharlene, Grant are you online?" Grant says, "Hi Sharlene, yes I am." To which I replied, "Hi Sharlene... oh wait, that's me.."

3. my manager Brian handed me a photo frame and was like, "Could you find a home for this please?" I'm like, "Huh?" So he repeated it, and i'm like, "What?" And he repeated it and I was like, "Oh okay!" just so he woudln't think I was stoopid. Suzanne was standing right next to me and she left too... so I followed her to her section and I'm like, "Suzanne? WHAT did Brian want?" She laughs her ass off and said he probably wanted a damage report since the glass was gone from the frame so I did one and stuck it to the frame. I showed him and he's like, "what's this??" So I had to tell him that I had no idea what he'd wanted... ahh, Brian. what a gem.

MAN. then I got home and Melly and I watched a spelling bee on ESPN! It was craziness... these kids who were in like 7th grade were spelling some CRAZY words and they knew the roots and etymology of them all... wow. Got a call from Parsons the other night who was like, "WHAT THE..." cuz I'd sent him a Mars bar in the mail. haha... good schtuff. it was kind of squished apparently... damn Canada Post - can't even keep a Mars bar intact when sending it across the country. And it's my friend Steph Ko's birthday tomorrow!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY GIRLIE! Not too much else to say - too tired and too brain dead. Two days of studying statistics coming up and then a couple days of pure working...

SO Steph Liu messages me last night to ask me to look into getting her these blowfish string lights from Pottery Barn Kids (see below).. I told her I'd check them out and see how much they were over here. Get this - I go upstairs today to PBK and ask the guy about the lights. Apparently we don't have them in Canada because they didn't pass Canadian safety regulations!!!! hehehehehe... he said that Canadian standards are higher than American standards.

So I got an email from Steph Liu today which said:

dearest shar.

i pine for you. i whine pine would build you a shrine of wine from the best vine if i could only twine my spine with thine and make you mine. others may malign how id soak us in brine - times would be nine (wouldnt that be fine?) and we would combine and shine like a sign of the divine. oh how i pine. but back i recline. as i resign. lest you decline. me.

sincerely, stephanie

Can we say too much time on your hands, honey?
