One day I will learn to accept disappointment, not with the anger of a hurt child who cannot have their own way, but with the dignity and grace of an adult, who can accept that this world is a changing place, and that their place in this world is always changing also, and that nothing is a constant.
One day I will learn that there are things I cannot change, no matter how much I want it to be, I will learn to accept this as a truth and not as a defeat, for there will always be things I cannot influence and to accept this is a wisdom in itself.
One day I will learn to trust that the Universe is supporting me in all that I do, and that all things happen for a reason, and for every door that closes another opens, and that to try and control this is a measure of vanity and self importance that I have no right to claim.
One day I will learn to believe in myself, to place in myself the same faith I place in others, for I am the one person who will always be there for me, who will love me unconditionally, the one person I can count on for the rest of my life. When I learn to do this I will stop looking to others for my happiness for I will have found it within myself.
One day I will learn to lose graciously, for losing is not a sign of weakness within myself but a sign of greatness within someone else, and they are to be recognized for their talents. There will always be someone who is smarter, prettier, stronger, more capable than I, and to begrudge them this not only belittles the talents that I hold, but belittles the special gifts they were blessed with as well.
One day I will learn that love cannot be measured, cannot be contained, cannot be compared and cannot be quantified. When I learn this I will learn to accept the love that is given to me in whatever form it appears, and I will not ask that it be any more or any less than what it is - I will just feel blessed that I am loved.
One day I hope that these wisdoms will not just be words for me but reality, but until then with every disappointment I will learn, with every change I will learn, with every loss I will learn and with every love I will learn. I will learn.
