The gravesite for George W. Shimer and Rebecca is at the Shimer Cemetery, which is located in the Center District of Calhoun County, on Leading Creek about 2 mile west of Prosperity Church and about 2 miles west of Rt. 16 on the Leading Creek Road on the north side of the road with a sign on the drive adn with a gate at the road; about 200 feet from the road.
William and Rachael Shimer, along with their granddaughter Martha (who died in 1859 at 2 years, 5 months and 21 days), are buried in a family cemetery located in the Sherman District of Calhoun County, on the ridge at the head of Slab Fork near the Gilmer County line. This cemetery is on the original homestead of George W. Shimer and is on the former property of Lela VanCamp (a descendant of George Shimer).
