June 1999 - Camp Ilidza, Sarajevo, Bosnia-Herzegovina
This was me carrying the guidon across the finish line during the Norwegian Telemark Battalion's Viking Run. I had been carrying the guidon for the last 10 miles or so of a 20 mile road march. I came in at 4 hours 33 minutes. Add a clear blue day with the thermometer hovering around 85 to 90 degrees and you can tell how much fun this was. Oh, and did I mention that all 500 or so participants from about 20 different nationalities were volunteers?
