Christmas In Iran

When the Wise Men went to a Bethlehem stable, they started from here, or so goes the fable...
Upon seeing a star, they left Sepah Square, 'Course that was before the cannons got there...
The anniversary is close but all we can hear ...Is the rumble of tanks, not eight tiny reindeer.
But Tehran is all calm, there's "Barf" on the Coo"...."Snow on the mountain"(translation for you).
With oil workers on strike we don't drive too far....But we are in luck; we do have a car.
There's no gas for cooking, but warm is the town, from burning buildings all the way to the ground...When crowds with their matches started foolin' around..
And the soldiers just watched, we really were down. Iran customs is closed and no mail gets through. Sure hope this greeting makes it home to you.
The lines to the U.S. aren't working so well....And the local ones too, aren't ringing a bell. Strike bound workers cut off phones when they leave demanding their price and want all to believe.....
Our work is just great but it isn't much fun......To hold meetings and talk o'er the sound of a gun....
The people are friendly, well most of them are....We're telling ourselves while cleaning words off our car of "Yonkee Go Home" (can't they learn how to spell?)
We really aren't scared, but to some it is Hell. We've been kicked from our building by workers all Persian.....But we're told by their leaders it was just for diversion.
"Keep a low profile" we are now being told......"If you go out at all it really is bold"
But Americans aren't built to hide and to shiver.....So we go where we want, but sometime aquiver.
All this sounds so bad and we know you must fear....But it's really been fun and we're in for good cheer.....We surely are thankful that we have each other....
With only good wishes for friend, foe and brother.......Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night....Remember we're here, and for goodness sake write!
