I remember the day you gave this penny to me
My beautiful son do not cry
For you my beautiful Zack with all the love my heart can ever hold,

it is a day I shall not forget
As I hold it my hand I can still see
the love in your eyes when you gave it to me
This small penny seems worthless I know
if you only knew how I treasure it so
To me it is worth more than gold
for you gave me this penny to have and to hold
Hold it I do close to my heart
for this little penny has made its mark
When I look this penny I can still see
all those times you skinned your knee
Skating in the road or riding your bike
when I held you and kissed you to make it alright
All those times I tucked you in bed
after the hugs, kisses and stories had been read
I come to your door and watch my little angel
I watch you sleep
And think of the day you gave this penny to me
This shiny piece of copper I could never spend
I will hold and keep it until my life's end
And when it is time for me to go
I will put it an envelope along with a note:
for my life is over and I had to fly
fly with the angels to heaven I descend
now I give you this penny to hold 'til your life's end
Look at this penny and this you will see
how happy I was the day you gave this to me
This shiny penny worth more than gold
I now give to you to have and to hold
Hold it close to your heart like I know you will
and when you look at this penny know I am with you still
Remember the times I tucked you in tight
when I held you and kissed you and made things all right
Then my dear son you will see
the power this penny had on me
I loved even more the day you gave it to me
and now I leave it to you
So my love you will see
Hold it close to your heart like I know you will
and know although I am gone
Know I watch over you still
When you tuck your children in at night
when you hold them and kiss them to make things all right
Look at this penny and then you will see
why this shiny piece of copper was a treasure to me
Though I am gone and we are apart

My beautiful child my precious one
How I wanted to see you shine in the sun
To hear you laugh and watch you play
To sing and dance in the rain
My precious child these things I do miss
I take comfort in the fact and try to remember this
Someday we will be together someday when I come home
Then my sweet child it is you I will hold
Close to my heart and tight in my arms
Then I will see you shine in the sun
I will hear you laugh and watch you play

For my beautiful Elizabeth
My beautiful girl with eyes of blue
Long blonde hair
And dimples too
I know you are too young to understand
How you hold my heart in the palm of your hand
Though we disagree
And sometimes fight
All is forgiven when I tuck you in bed each night
I know you think I am too hard on you
But it is only because I want the best for you
Someday when you are a mom you will understand
Why I am the way I am
You fill my heart with joy and love
My beautiful girl a true gift from above
There is nothing on this earth I would not do
If I had the power I would give the world to you
As a small symbol of my love
But even the world would not be enough
The best I can do is to love you each day
To show you how special you are to me

I look at you and admire you from a far
Though we are together all the time

This poem was written for the other half of my soul
She knows who she is
My Wonderful Friend
Mere words can not express
The impact you have had on my life
I never expected the Lord to bless me
With such a special gift
To meet another woman
With the other half of my soul
Combine us together we make each other whole
We share one another's joy
We share one another's pain
Sometimes I am flooded with emotions
I can barely contain
No words need be spoken
For you already understand
Such an amazing gift you have given to me

I can hear you speak
With each letter you write
And every night before bed
I tell you goodnight
I can sense when you are thinking of me
Just as you can sense
When I am thinking of you
A compassionate soul
A tender heart
A warmth from within
That sets you apart
From every other woman I have met
Such happiness you have brought to me

To meet the other part of yourself
Is so strange in a way
For it is not something
that happens everyday
How lucky we are to have ever met
The times we talk
Are times well spent
We offer each other
Encouragement and support
And we crack ourselves up
With our witty retorts
I thank the Lord often
for sending you to me
For you have shown me
What a true friend can be
Though there is a chance
we may never meet face to face
My most cherished friend you will always be
From you I have learned
Women can actually be friends
We can cut through the bull shit
And put the competition to an end
