The Actual Wedding

Misfortune

The day of our wedding, Drew & I decided that we would not see each other until the wedding. I spent my morning on the beach waiting for him to come by and drop the hotel room key off with my dad. Well he finally showed up and I sat there not looking at him while my mom, dad, and him talked for what seemed like forever. Finally, my mom walks over to where I was and says, "Drew needs to talk to you. The wedding is still on but something has happened." So here I am thinking someone died or something, so I walk over to Drew to find out whats up. He has a big bandage around his tummy and another on his arm. This cannot be good. Well come to find out Drew couldn't sleep the night before because he was nervous, so at 3 a.m. he decides to go for a stroll on the beach by his house. He does this a lot by the way. Anyways as he's walking along a guy who reeks of alcohol stops him to ask for directions to some bar. Drew turns to point him in the right direction, and before you know it the guy is slashing at him with a knife. Drew's jewelry was stolen as well as his wallet. Usually he doesn't have his wallet with him on the beach but he forgot it was in there. In his wallet was the money for our honeymoon. Totally bad luck, I know. Anyways after going to the hospital, everything is okay. No stitches just some bandages. The wedding will go on.

Getting ready

The wedding is supposed to be at 5:30, but the photographer wanted to start taking pictures at 4:30 so I decided to get ready at 2:30 or 3. I grab some quick lunch at the condo and pack up my stuff to go to the hotel. My dad drives me and my sister/maid of honor over to the Marriott next door. We get up to the room and do our make-up. I help my sister with her hair and then my cousin/bridesmaid comes over to do my hair. After tons of bobby pinning and ironing everyone is ready to go. We grab the bouquets and ring and downstairs we go. The photographer is there waiting on us, so right away we start taking pictures of all the girls. Then I get put in the reception location so Drew won't see me while she takes the guys pictures.

Then the minister shows up. He thinks the wedding is supposed to start at 5 so he gets all bossy snipping, "We have to get started now. I have another wedding at 6." Well at this time the best man isn't even there yet. He's still stuck in 5 o'clock traffic. The preacher tells us, "Oh well you have one guy he can be the best man now." So with that the wedding starts.

The Wedding Ceremony

Drew and Paul walk out there. Then my Mom. Next goes Christy and Courtney. Just when it's almost my turn to go here comes the best man, so he walks out there. Then comes me and my dad. The wedding was outside in the courtyard which was beautiful. Once my dad hands me over to Drew, the wedding gets started. At this time Drew's mom, dad, and stepmom still aren't here yet. Traffic sucks in Cayman at 5 pm. The minister blabs on about how he's running behind so he'll make this fast, but yet he takes 5 minutes to yak about how his kids grew up with Drew. Drew's parents arrive right before the actual ceremony starts. Behind us is a pond with a fountain and all the little turtles are peeking up at us. It was precious. Then I look up and notice all the people on the balconies. It was crazy! The ceremony went well, and when it was time to kiss the applause from the balconies was unreal.

Taking Pictures

After we signed our license and stuff we got together to take more pictures. The people staying at the hotel were all congratulating us as we walked through their beachside restaurant down to the beach. Once again people started clapping and yelling congrats. Some people we didn't even know got out their cameras and took our picture. The picture taking was so much fun. Our photographer, Rebecca Davidson of Rapid Photo, was awesome.
